Soseu 소스
(6.5oz, single)
There's nothing better than a home-cooked meal, and Korean cooking is no exception. Meal kits and pre-packaged foods offer convenience, but they can't compete with fresh ingredients and flavors built over the stove.
This is where Soseu comes in. Think of Soseu as a bouillon for Korean flavor, a concentrated sauce packed with foundational ingredients that gives you total control. Use it as a flavor enhancer, a base, a marinade, a seasoning, or a kitchen companion to build your own dishes.
Soseu is built on a base of vibrant gochugaru (Korean red chili pepper), with an umami backbone of anchovy fish sauce and dashima, rounded out by aromatics garlic, onion, and ginger. It delivers deep, warming heat. And while it's technically not a hot sauce or chili crisp, we won't stop you from using it like one.
Where to start? Spoon it over rice, noodles, or your morning eggs. Use it as a kimchi paste when fermenting at home. Mix with gochujang for homemade soon dubu or bibim naengmyeon. Toss with tteokbokki for extra heat. Add it to soups and jjigaes, or spice up a marinade.
Soseu shines on its own, but it comes to life with its pantry companions. Visit our Bapsang to learn about the Korean pantry, and recommendations on how to use our products.
Is it similar to gochujang?
Good question! Soseu and gochujang share gochugaru (Korean red chili pepper) as a primary ingredient, but they play different roles. Gochujang is the deeper fermented paste, built with soybeans, glutinous rice and time. Soseu is fresh and bright. Gochujang adds richness. Soseu brings brightness. You can use them on their own, but they're magical when used together.
